I had a very spiritual, yet fun experience with my children this afternoon.
Bring Out “Your Silly” While Running Errands
We experienced a very full day of running errands. Errands are things my kids most of the time do not enjoy. While we were going from the store to the car I wanted to make things fun for them.
I could almost hear a tender whisper from the Holy Ghost say, “be silly with them and make today fun.”
As we were in Costco, the kids thought it would be fun to run around the store. That’s always fun! Haha!
I thought that I could make it a game to see if they could show me the silliest way to walk. I wanted to make sure it was walking and not running.
They liked how silly I was walking to prove that we could have fun without running.
As we were driving home, the last five minutes of the drive the sun was shining in our car windows.
That is one thing Ryen doesn’t like the most about our car rides. The sun shines in her face and she gets hot.
I anticipate everytime we drive on a certain part of our drive home for her to start to get ancy and cry.
I could feel the spirit and the fun loving thought I had at Costco impress upon my mind to distract her and be silly.
I pulled my hat over my face and changed my voice. I pretended like I was a crazy lady that could hear and smell really well.
I distracted her with my silly voice. She was giggling at the crazy conversations I came up with about how I can hear things so much better when my hat is on my face.
We ended up making it home without any yelling or crying from her over the sun. It was so refreshing.
Silly To Genuine
As we finished our day together I thought of how when I am connecting and relating with them, even if that means being silly, I can be understanding and genuinely love them more.
When I can understand and genuinely love them more I am able to share more deeply my desires and passions with them.
I am able to share my love and share the love of Christ more with the help and companionship of the spirit.
We are able to listen better and come closer through talking about our interests.
As a family, we not only come closer together but we feel closer to Jesus Christ.
I know that when I am connecting with my children I feel a stronger connection with the spirit. I am able to teach more of Christ, love the best I can like Christ, rejoice in Christ, and help them understand Christ for them in their lives.
For me, being silly, relating, and connecting through my children’s communication draws us closer to one another as well as our Lord, Jesus Christ.
These moments grow and enrich my spiritual experiences because I know that these promptings and impressions come for God.
Plus it was a joy to share those silly moments with them. I’m grateful for that. 🙂
26. And we talk of Christ, we rejoice in Christ, we preach of Christ, we prophesy of Christ, and we write according to our prophecies, that our children may know to what source they may look for a remission of their sins.
