I love how the spirit works so strongly in my life, but at the same time so subtle.
I have felt a deeper inclination to love more of all my fellowmen. I desire to see them as a child of God and that they are all needing companionship, friendship, and understanding.
At a ward activity recently we met a man that has lived in our area most of his life. He was telling us stories and getting to know us. He was so friendly.
He was a bit older, his health is declining and we could tell he just wanted someone to talk to.
While talking to him I thought about how he is a child of God that is so loved. I wanted to show my love to him by listening and engaging in conversation.
I felt a warm feeling in my heart after talking with him.
This evening, my husband was called by another member of the priesthood holder in our ward to go give this same man we met a blessing.
I thought it was awesome that this man we just met a few days ago would be given a blessing by my husband and another man in our ward.
I knew it would build our friendship and companionship with him.
My husband brought our son along so that he could experience the spirit by offering blessings to anyone that needs it from worthy priesthood holders.
When they returned I could see the power and light shine from my boys.
Dom walked into our room and said to me, “This is why we are here. We are here to serve the people with what we can give.” My heart melted and tears filled my eyes when he started to hold back his own tears. I could feel the spirit from his own.
After he shared his thoughts my son told me that he could feel the spirit from the words of the blessing. He was glad he could attend that.
I wasn’t even part of this experience but to know that my boys were and how much the spirit impacted them, impacted me.
I was sharing with a friend how I feel like we are meant to live in our area to serve and love more and more people.
I also expressed to her that I know that all the many places we have lived in have been ways for us to open our eyes to new people or cultures and come to love them.
We are all different and unique and I want to be able to love all of God’s children.
Sharing that with her and then having my boys go out to extend service through a blessing was such a great witness of what a little kindness and friendship can do.
We are all called to serve. We are called to be a disciple of Jesus Christ.
We are not meant to have all the knowledge or wisdom, we are just meant to have a testimony and the inspiration of the spirit.
I believe with that light and knowledge, I can serve the people in my community with my kind words, friendship, service, and with love in my heart.
It’s the way I would like to serve. A little love goes a long way.
11. And your whole labor shall be in Zion, with all your soul, from henceforth; yea, you shall ever open your mouth in my cause, not fearing what man can do, for I am with you. Amen.
