Spread the love

My family and I had a great discussion on the first appearance of Jesus Christ.

Samuel The Lamanite, a prophet around the time of Jesus Christ’s birth, preached of the coming of Jesus Christ and His birth. His birth would take place five years from the time he proclaimed it to the Nephites

Many people believed Samuel and prepared for the day when the birth of Jesus Christ would take place.

Many more people didn’t believe the words of Samuel, The Lamanite. They vowed that they would kill any believer of Jesus Christ if He wasn’t born the day it was prophesied.

As we talked about this experience we conversed about the believers that prepared for Jesus Christ’s coming. The believers had five years of preparing and searching for the sign of His birth.

Faith and Hope

I thought this was so cool to experience what the believers did. They were able to prepare for five years and search for the sign, all with faith and hope in their hearts.

I discussed with my family how wonderful it is that they had those five years to prepare.

If I knew Jesus Christ would be coming in five years, I would spend all my thoughts and talents focused on such a wonderful, reuniting experience. I would do my best to live my best and prepare with a full purpose of heart.

For us, now, we as believers know that the Second Coming will happen.

“Members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church) believe that there will be a Second Coming of Jesus Christ to the earth sometime in the future. The LDS Church and its leaders do not make predictions of the actual date of the Second Coming.” –Wikipedia Second Coming

We don’t know when the Second Coming will take place but we know that it will happen.

It could happen tomorrow or years down the road.

My family and I discussed, with this knowledge, it gives us great peace and excitement to live during our time.

We have been blessed with the scriptures and the gospel to do all that we can to prepare.

Although we don’t know the time of His coming, we do know that He is asking us to live our very best, to repent of sins, to follow the commandments, and strive to be more like Him so that we could live with Him and Heavenly Father in Heaven.

It’s easier said than done, for sure.

Think, Speak, Act

But for me, it helps to put things into perspective.

How do I want to live today?

How do I want to think, speak, and act?

Are my thoughts focused on righteous desires?

Are my words creating good actions and impact?

Are my actions loving and empowering?

Am I doing my best to follow the direction of Jesus Christ?

If He was to come tomorrow, would my heart and mind know that I did all that I could do?

I don’t want these questions to seem heavy or difficult. I just want to know that I am trying little by little to become the best me I can.

With The Help of Jesus Christ I Feel Like I Can Do Better

I feel like I am doing my best when I rely on the spirit through my thoughts, my Heavenly Father in my prayers and words, and my Savior for how I act.

“The Second Coming will be a fearful, mournful time for the wicked, but it will be a day of peace for the righteous. The Lord declared:

“They that are wise and have received the truth, and have taken the Holy Spirit for their guide, and have not been deceived—verily I say unto you, they shall not be hewn down and cast into the fire, but shall abide the day.” –Second Coming of Jesus Christ

I love that this says, it will be a day of peace for the righteous.

When I think of the day of His coming, I feel at peace. I feel like it will be a time of rejoicing.

Just like those preparing for five years. I think for them it was a time of rejoicing and I think now is the time for rejoicing as well.

Jesus Christ will come. 🙂

A Time of Rejoicing

With many believers knowing that, it is the time to rejoice now and live a little better each day or even our next thought.

So, if I knew the Second Coming was to happen tomorrow I would share it to many, share my love for Him and His life, share my love to my family, and praise my Heavenly Father for the many blessings of all that I received to grow closer to where I want to be.

I want to share my love for and the life of Jesus Christ.

I’m not perfect but I want to think a little better and believe others are doing the same. I want to speak a little better and believe others are also saying the best they can. I want to act a little better and believe others are behaving the best they can.

I know we are all doing the best we can. It’s great to know that with the love and example of Jesus Christ, we ARE able to repent and become a little better.

I rejoice in the time He does come. The second time. 🙂

I hope you are able to check out churchofjesuschrist.org for more wonderful information of our Savior Jesus Christ and His gospel.

Much love,
