During our Come Follow Me lesson tonight, we discussed what each of our “Book of Life” will look like and how we want it to look. Our book of life meaning, our attitude, our personality, how we are in our family, how we want to serve, live righteously, live the gospel teachings, have growing experiences, etc. The question we asked each other was, “what do you hope will be written about you in your book of life?”

We all took moments to think about it and then responded together. Ronen answered by saying that he wants to be known for loving Jesus Christ with all of his heart. It was amazing to hear him say that. I love that boy of mine. Ryen nodded her head in agreement. Her spirit is so warm and strong. Dom said he wanted to be seen like he did all he could do to return to Heavenly Father. I said I wanted to be known for always trying to be better and having a repentant heart.

I was excited to discuss this as a family because I have been thinking about how I want to see myself in the present and in the future. I listened to a great podcast from Jody Moore, called “Entitlement Truth.” https://jodymoore.com/entitlement-truth/ She discussed how we are all entitled or deserving to receive abundance or trials. We are all seen with the same love from our Heavenly Father. We are also capable to have just as much abundance as the next person.

I have been thinking about our situation, with us having… no job, no home, no cars, no furniture. BUT, we have a place to stay, we have EACH OTHER, we have savings, we have food, clothes, toys, water, school, scriptures, cleanliness, LOVE, the abundance goes on. AND I am so grateful! I’m seeing our glass full right now. I not only want my book of life to see that I kept trying but that I was so grateful during the trials and my efforts. My abundance is from the gratitude in my heart.

In the podcast she talked about a women named, Glennon Doyle, writing about people critiquing her photos while she was in our “outdated kitchen” according to the people commenting on her blog page. The blog post was called, “Give Me Gratitude or Give Me Debt.”https://momastery.com/blog/2014/08/11/give-liberty-give-debt/ Her kitchen wasn’t updated to modern features and allowed the comments to influence her thoughts of her not having “enough” or being in “trend.” At first she was feeling down about her kitchen, but after she put on her “perspectorials” (I love that! She was seeing things through a grateful perspective) she saw how grand her kitchen really is. The kitchen has food, clean water, kids drawings on the fridge, and a home filled with her family that she loves. I loved her grateful attitude because that’s been my thoughts about my life. It’s not about the “stuff” it’s about how you are thinking about your “abundances” and experiencing life.

I told my family I want to put more effort in trying to be better and more grateful. I also told them I want to express my gratitude and thoughts to them positively.  I want to give my whole heart to my family. I want to forgive. I want to serve. I want to be happy with my circumstance, my blessings, and my abundance I receive. It’s amazing, my life…I’m fired up about it! I want to live the best. I can live this way with the spirit of Christ prominent in my book of life. His spirit is of love and gratitude. He has the fullest of hearts and shares His abundance with others.

Phillippians 4:3

And I entreat thee also, true yokefellow, help those women which laboured with me in the gospel, with Clement also, and with other my fellowlabourers, whose names are in the book of life.

My abundance in this life is what I choose to make it. I choose to have my book filled with better thoughts, better deeds, more graciousness, forgiveness, gratitude, and a heart centered of Christ. That’s what life…my life is focused on. I might not have everything I want sometimes and sometimes I might have a great abundance of wants, but my abundance is not measured by “stuff” but my attitude, joy, and love. All of these I have or do obtain are by the grace of God and love of Jesus Christ. I want to continue to create a full and more righteous book. I am so grateful for what I currently have. My book of life has been and is filled with abundance. I thank my Heavenly Father and Savior, Jesus Christ for blessing with me an amazing life, with EVERYTHING I need! Both of them, fill my soul with joy, love, and more and more gratitude.
