Spread the love

How can we gather for ourselves spiritually and temporally as Christ did?

When we have our focus on the Lord, we understand more of our purpose.

When I say purpose, I mean, how we are living and what we want to be doing.

And for me, how I am living and what I want to be doing is taking steps each day to follow Christ’s teachings more and slightly better.

During our scripture reading tonight as a family we talked about Doctrine and Covenants 29 verse 2, it says,

2. Who will gather his people even as a hen gathereth her chickens under her wings, even as many as will hearken to my voice and humble themselves before me, and call upon me in mighty prayer.

While discussing this scripture I thought of Jesus Christ’s focus and that is to gather as many to the fold. To gather all to the kingdom of God that are willing to come.

I expressed to my family that when our focus is on Jesus Christ we are gathered together in a great cause. To do His will and live as closely possible to Him as we can.

After discussing this with them I felt such a strong spiritual connection to my purpose, to my family, and Heavenly Father.

I could feel peace rush through my body that with Christ in my life, I live a life with more meaning and joy.

While feeling that peace through my body, I closed my eyes for a moment and saw a version of me knowing my purpose. It was a person I saw that I felt close to and that I wanted to hug. This person seemed so inviting. It reminded me of my Savior. Because that beautiful quick moment it helped me remember that I want to be like that person. I want to be like the Savior.

Someone so welcoming, humble, and true to the faith. Like a loving being wanting to gather a “chick” or another being wrapping their arms around you, supporting and loving you through.

Reflecting and Pursuing A Purpose

I reflect each day on what my purpose is for each area that I am looking to fulfill. How I want to become that being I felt so close to during my spiritual moment.

With homeschooling, I am wanting to strive to have the basic principles in place. For our family, I want unconditional love in our home and teaching with love to be first priority. I am hoping with that, we are able to focus on how the Savior would act in our home while we are learning.

It keeps things in perspective and grows us closer together. Learning is also more enjoyable and exciting.

I also thought of my blog and podcast where I desire to share and connect with others through spiritual and personal growth with Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ.

With both of Their principles and commandments and as I want to follow Them, I am able to invite and draw closer to the spirit during the day.

Drawing closer to the spirit provides opportunities where I can listen more, be more understanding of people, have compassion for what people are experiencing, and take steps to be a little bit of a better human being in the world.

All areas of my life I hope that as I focus my heart and thoughts on my Savior it will feel like I am being surrounded by His arms, being received by Him, and as though a hen gathers her chicks.

I feel a warm blanket of comfort and I know it’s the spirit filling me with the love of Jesus Christ.

The focus might seem simple but keeping the focus and reasons why are what keep the perspective so fulfilling and reaching.

I also hope to remember that my Savior has His focus very close to mine. He is always welcoming me to grow closer to Him and His kingdom.

He is our advocate and is building us with the focuses we long to have as we give our hearts to Him.

Doctrine and Covenants 29:5-7

6. And, as it is written—Whatsoever ye shall aask in bfaith, being cunited in prayer according to my command, ye shall receive.

7. And ye are called to bring to pass the agathering of mine belect; for mine elect chear my voice and dharden not their ehearts;
