Don’t Let The Spirit Pass You By (Using the Scriptures to Build You Up)

Sharing is caring!

I started having my kids read their scriptures every night since the beginning of the year. It has not only helped them with their reading but it has been a special part of the day. That part of the day connects us spiritually.

My daughter loves to read one particular scripture every night.

My kids each have their own set of scriptures. In Ryen’s we have only one scripture highlighted in the whole Book of Mormon.

We read,

Moroni 10:32

Yea, come unto Christ, and be perfected in him, and deny yourselves of all ungodliness; and if ye shall deny yourselves of all ungodliness, and love God with all your might, mind and strength, then is his grace sufficient for you, that by his grace ye may be perfect in Christ; and if by the grace of God ye are perfect in Christ, ye can in nowise deny the power of God.

I love that this is the scripture she has highlighted. It’s a great reminder everyday to do our best. Another great reminder to repent, give ourselves to God and become more like our Savior, Jesus Christ.

Applying The Guidance of The Holy Ghost

This scripture has been on my mind a lot since we have been reading it so much.

It has applied more to my daily efforts with my children and who I want to be as a daughter of God.

I have seen a change in me that I like.

In recent experiences with my children when they would whine or lash out words I would respond with more kindness because of reading this scripture often.

Times in the past I have found that when my kids “disobey,” my idea of disobeying I would want them to go to time out (which still happens at times) or I would start to mirror their behavior.

Both, my kids and I would walk away feeling awful.

With this recent experience, instead of doing some of those things, I responded by sharing how much I love them and hope they could try to communicate a little better.

I also shared how I want to communicate better and hope they can try and do the same.

Because of this shift and having that scripture in the back of my mind I have felt more peace as a mother.

I love to be home. I will say it’s not always the most fun or easiest job but I love the teaching it gives me.

I’m learning that I want to come unto God more for help. I want to think of what Christ would say or do in my situation.

When I have applied this in my life I have felt more grace.

It’s SO amazing you guys!

The Spirit Strengthens and Builds Us Up

Experiences like these boost my confidence and I feel more of a connection with the spirit.

The spirit desires to help us evolve and stretch ourselves a bit so we can learn and build up ourselves stronger with more faith.

I felt a little stretched today as I received a prompting from the spirit to share my blog and podcast with my Relief Society President.

As I was making dinner I felt a prompting to text her and share them. I mentioned to her in the text that I wanted to give these to her so more women or missionaries in the ward can look to me or more people for connections with the gospel and spiritual experiences.

At first I was hesitant to send them to her but I knew the spirit was impressing upon my mind to grow more and to hopefully share with others the impact the spirit, scriptures, and Christ has on my daily life.

Like that scripture above that I read with Ryen nightly, I feel more of a nudge from the spirit to fully understand the scripture and apply it to my life.

I know the scriptures are a guide and there is a way to help us and show us the way back to Heavenly Father.

Heavenly Father has blessed us with the Holy Ghost/Spirit to be a comfort and influence us for good.

With both of these experiences as a mother at home and sharing my experiences to you I am strengthening my faith and ways I can become better through Christ.

My Efforts Owed To Jesus Christ

“Jesus is the Living Christ, the immortal Son of God. … His way is the path that leads to happiness in this life and eternal life in the world to come.” –Jesus Christ Gospel Topics

I owe all my efforts and life to Him. He is our greatest advocate, friend, and example.

I feel His love in my chest when I listen to a prompting, speak with more love to my children, and think higher thoughts while living a holier way.

These experiences take time to cultivate.

I won’t always respond to my children perfectly, but I would like to. I know with the help of the Holy Ghost and example of Jesus Christ I am closer to achieving that.

I won’t always respond promptly to a prompt but I hope I do because I feel a warm hug when I do.

Our spirit in this life is like cultivating a relationship. It takes time and effort but It’s completely worth it.

The love from the spirit is ALWAYS there with the grace of our Lord and Heavenly Father by their side.

By our side. 🙂
