40. But I have commanded you to bring up your children in light and truth.
Before getting ready to go to sleep I read scriptures individually and together with my children.
They each have their own set of scriptures.
They read a scripture and then say their nightly prayers by their beds. If that is not the sweetest thing, I don’t know what is.
This evening while Ryen and I were reading the scriptures together she wanted to read some as well.
She is three and doesn’t read yet but she loves to pretend like she can. 🙂
She grabbed my phone that had the scriptures open on it through the LDS library.
I opened the sacrament prayer in the book of Moroni.
The Spirit Speaks to Each One of Us
She recited something she says often when she sits on her bed to read her scriptures.
She says, “Jesus loves and lives for the people.”
It melts my heart everytime.
We didn’t intentionally teach her to say those things when we read the scriptures together. This is all knowledge she has come up with on her own.
She says it almost every time we read scriptures or talk about Jesus.
We all smile and hug her after she says it because we know that statement is the truth!
She is speaking from her heart and I couldn’t be more proud of her.
After we read her scripture I told her that Jesus does live and love ALL people. He also loves to hear from you on how you live your life each day.
Involving Jesus Christ In Our Conversations
As I looked in her eyes when we were communicating about this she had such innocence and purity.
I felt the spirit so strong and I believe she did as well.
Talking of Christ and inviting the spirit in our home creates these wonderful spiritual connections.
We are vulnerable and are willing to be humble to learn more of the ministry of Christ and how to follow His commandments.
It’s experiences like this with my daughter, my family, and myself that bring so much overwhelming joy.
Joy and moments that I desire to have each day with myself and them.
I feel so connected with the spirit, my Father in Heaven, and my dear Savior for blessing my life with such wonderful experiences.
These experiences are what brings meaning to my life.
If I don’t know what to do with my life when it comes to the worldly stuff, at least I know where to go when I need the spiritual nourishment.
The Spirit Teaches Us Individually For The Growth of Our Hearts
I was in my living room doing my nightly routine with my precious daughter teaching the grace and truthfulness of Jesus Christ.
Her genuine love and expressing to all of us that He does live and that He does love ALL the people.
We all might experience different ways of connecting with the spirit and viewing the gospel but we can all agree it strengthens us spiritually and provides joy that is so much more than what the world can offer.
“The greatest news of all time is that Jesus lives and that his atoning sacrifice took place for all people; and when they put their trust in him and indeed walk in obedience to his commandments, there is a way for them to gain salvation and exaltation.” –The Great News of All Times Is That Jesus Christ Lives
